Acceptance
These terms are an agreement between you and Checkilo. By signing up for or using Checkilo, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Checkilo.
Checkilo is operated by an independent sole proprietor. Our legal name is available on request by emailing support@checkilo.app.
What Checkilo is and is not
Checkilo is a heartbeat and checkpoint monitoring tool. Your automations send us pings on a schedule, and we alert you when a ping is missing, late, or failed.
Please understand the limits of what Checkilo does:
- We do not run, control, or guarantee your automations. Checkilo only watches for the pings you send and tells you when something looks wrong.
- We do not guarantee that every alert is delivered or that it arrives in time. Alerts depend on outside services and networks that we do not control.
- Checkilo is not a sole safeguard for critical operations. For anything important, keep your own checks in place as well.
Accounts and eligibility
When you create an account, you agree to give accurate information. You are responsible for keeping your account secure, including any API keys you generate. Activity that happens through your account or keys is your responsibility.
You must be at least 16 years old to use Checkilo.
Acceptable use
When using Checkilo, you agree not to:
- Abuse the ping endpoint or send traffic designed to overload it.
- Put unlawful or harmful content into ping metadata.
- Reverse engineer the service.
- Exceed your plan’s rate limits in a way that degrades the service for others.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
Your content and data
You own the data you send to Checkilo, including your pings and their metadata. By using the service, you grant us a limited license to store and process that data for the purpose of providing the service to you.
Please do not send secrets or sensitive personal data inside your pings. We store and display ping metadata verbatim and forward it to your alert destinations, as described in the Privacy Policy section on the data inside your pings. If you include personal data about other people in your pings, you are responsible for that data.
Plans billing and auto-renewal
Checkilo offers a Free plan and a paid Pro plan today. Additional plans are planned for the future.
- The Pro plan is a paid subscription billed through Stripe. It renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel.
- By subscribing, you authorize these recurring charges.
- Current prices are listed on our pricing page. We do not list prices here because they are managed in Stripe and may change.
- If a payment fails, your account may be downgraded.
Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel at any time. When you cancel, your access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then your account reverts to the Free plan. Your existing data remains.
We do not provide refunds for partial periods.
Intellectual property
Checkilo, including its software, brand, and website, belongs to us. We grant you a limited license to use the service. This does not give you any rights to the software itself.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, you grant us permission to use them to improve Checkilo, without any obligation to you.
Third-party services
Checkilo works with outside services. These include Stripe for payments and the alert destinations you choose to connect, such as Slack, Discord, Telegram, LINE, Teams, and Webhook. Each of these services is governed by its own terms. We are not responsible for their availability or for their actions.
Disclaimers
Checkilo is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE.” To the fullest extent allowed by law, we make no warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error free, or always on time. Monitoring and alerting may fail.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data.
- Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the fees you paid to Checkilo in the 12 months before the claim. If you use only the Free plan and have paid us nothing, our total liability is limited to a small fixed amount of fifty US dollars.
Indemnification
You agree to defend and indemnify Checkilo against any claims, losses, or costs that arise from your misuse of the service, the content you send, or your violation of these terms.
Term and termination
These terms apply for as long as you use Checkilo. Either you or we may terminate this agreement at any time. What happens to your data after termination is described in the Retention section of our Privacy Policy.
Changes to the service and these terms
We may change the service or these terms over time. When we change these terms, we update the “Last updated” date at the top, and we may also notify you by email. If you keep using Checkilo after a change, you accept the updated terms.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Thailand. Any dispute relating to Checkilo or these terms will be handled by the courts of Thailand.
Miscellaneous
- Severability. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- Entire agreement. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Checkilo about the service.
- Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent. We may transfer ours, for example in connection with a sale of the business.
- Force majeure. We are not responsible for failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
- Waiver. If we do not enforce a right, that is not a waiver of it.
- Contact. For any question about these terms, email support@checkilo.app.
